Sublingual Drops
How It Works: Sublingual Weight Loss Medications are placed under the tongue, where they dissolve and are absorbed directly into the bloodstream. This bypasses the digestive system, potentially increasing the drug’s bioavailability and effectiveness.
Advantages: This method is convenient and painless, making it suitable for individuals who are needle-averse or prefer a non-invasive option. It also allows for quick absorption, which can be beneficial for those with busy lifestyles.
Effectiveness: Studies have shown that sublingual medications can be effective for weight loss and blood sugar control, although they may be slightly less effective than injections due to differences in absorption rates.
Oral Pills
How It Works: Oral weight loss medications are taken by mouth and absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract. They often contain an absorption enhancer to help the medication pass through the stomach lining and into the bloodstream.
Advantages: Oral administration is convenient and easy to incorporate into daily routines. It is also pain-free and can improve adherence to the medication regimen.
Effectiveness: Oral medications have shown promising results in weight loss and blood sugar control, but they may have slightly lower bioavailability compared to injections. The difference in effectiveness can vary, but some studies suggest that injections may provide more consistent results.
Weekly Injections
GLP-1’s and their individual benefits have been studied for decades. GLP-1’s are found to boost insulin sensitivity and function, reduce cardiovascular risk, and curb hunger cravings.
How Do GLP-1 Injections Work?
- Controlling how rapidly the stomach digests food, leading to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes
- Stimulating insulin secretion by the pancreas
- Lowering blood sugar, in part by reducing the production of glucose in the liver
- Decreasing inflammation throughout the body, which leads to adiponectin release and fat lipolysis
Common Side Effects: Nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea are common but typically decrease over time.
Weekly Injections
GLP-1’s have a mechanism of action that involves mimicking the activity of the naturally occurring hormones in our bodies.
How does it work?
- Delays how quickly the stomach digests food, leading to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes.
- Slows intestinal motility so you will feel fuller longer after meals.
- Dual action at receptors allow for lower blood sugar levels, in part by reducing the production of sugar in the liver.
- Stimulates insulin secretion by the pancreas.
- Our GLP-1 & GIP compounds are specially formulated to optimize the use and storage of nutrients which can help support overall metabolic efficiency.
Most common side effects include:
- Constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, upset stomach, throwing up, or decreased appetite
- Heartburn
- Pain, itching, or other irritation where the injection was given
- Fatigue
- Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas): Symptoms include severe abdominal pain that can radiate to the back, nausea, and vomiting
- Kidney problems: Such as kidney failure or worsening of chronic kidney disease, characterized by a decrease in urine output and swelling in the legs or ankles
- Gallbladder problems: Including gallstones, which may require surgical intervention
- Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Particularly when taken with other diabetes medications that can lower blood sugar
This is not a comprehensive list of all side effects. Talk to your doctor if you have questions.
